# Interior view [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ARCHITECT, Scottish]() - Date: 1101-1150 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary The most important Romanesque churches in Scotland date back to the reign of King David I \(1124-1153\). The Benedictine abbey of Dunfermline in Fife, founded around 1070, was the burial place of eleven kings and queens. The arcades of the three-storey nave and side aisles of the church, which was consecrated in 1150, clearly copy Durham, and its exterior reminds one of models such as York.
