## Commentary

Post devoted his whole artistic career to producing Brazilian landscapes for collectors to satisfy their curiosity and taste for the exotic world they had never visited. The present painting of the church and monastery at Igaraçu was executed some twenty years after he had settled back in Haarlem, when his work had reached the peak of its popularity
