## Commentary

This engraving was made after Cecchino Salviati&#39;s design for the fresco cycle in the Oratorio di San Giovanni Decollato, Rome. However, it was not realized, the scene was awarded to Jacopino del Conte, who, following a sketch by Perino del Vaga, executed the fresco in 1541.
