# Baumburg Tower [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ARCHITECT, German]() - Date: 1251-1300 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary Town architecture is just as much an important feature of the late Romanesque period as castle construction. New towns were founded and erected according to clearly designed plans. They were founded by the most important princely families. Few Romanesque dwelling houses remain preserved, as they were largely of half-timbered constructions.
