## Commentary

The Magdalen Master ran the one of the most important and well organized workshops in Florence at the time. This workshop played a key role in disseminating the use of newly conceived small portable altars. The eponymous painting in the Galleria dell&#39;Accademia, Florence is the finest example of the fresh narrative and chromatic vein of this captivating artist. It is one of the works from the artist&#39;s mature period.
