## Commentary

Joshua was Moses&#39; successor, who led the Israelites to the Promised Land and waged war there against the heathen kings. The statue originally stood on the altar of the Swordsmen&#39;s Guild in the Wntwerp Cathedral. The attributes of Joshua, probably a spear and a shield, have disappeared.
