## Commentary

Orpheus Playing the Lyre to Hades and Persephone c. 1685 Tapestry, wool and silk, 299 x 328 cm Art Institute, Chicago The subject of the tapestry is taken from Ovid&#39;s Metamorphoses. It was woven at the Wauters workshop in Antwerp. The cartoon was designed by Pieter Spierinckx and Peter Ykens.
