## Commentary

Jacob Grimmer&#39;s landscapes capture daily village life, with no artifice; they are simple and sincere representations of life in rural Flanders in the 16th century. The present panel is a late example of his work, it is signed and dated lower right: JACOP GRIMER FECIT 1586
