## Commentary

Van der Straeten designed, together with Tilman-François Suys \(1783-1861\), the Palace of the Prince of Orange, which is today&#39;s Academy Palace in Brussels. He avoided the severity of his Orangery and gave the façade, with its distinctively projecting corners, colossal Ionic pilasters based on the model of Palladio.
