## Commentary

This work is indebted to seventeenth-century works such as &lt;a onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/s/steen/page1/doctor\_v.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/s/steen/page1/doctor\_v.html&#34;&gt;Jan Steen&#39;s many versions of the Doctor&#39;s Visit,&lt;/a&gt; although updated and refined for Jeaurat&#39;s wealthy, eighteenth-century French clientele.
