## Commentary

In this version of the subject of Holy Family with several classicizing elements, the infant Jesus holds his mother&#39;s neck tightly, Mary&#39;s profile is sharply contrasted against the dark background, Joseph enveloped in darkness leans on his staff and watches the two. The painting is after the composition of Perino del Vaga \(National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne\).
