# Notre Dame de Grâce [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [UNKNOWN MASTER, French]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Stone, height 111 cm ## Commentary Burgundian influence can be traced to a group of sculptures associated with Toulouse. One of the most impressive of these is the Notre Dame de Grâce of about 1430-40 that comes from the pilgrimage church of the Dominicans in Bruguières near Toulouse. The somewhat eccentric poses indicate that this sculpture perhaps belonged to a larger Adoration of the Magi group. The sense of compactness and bulk owes something to the deeply carved draperies of Sluter's tradition.
