## Commentary

Originally the panel, signed as &#39;Bartolomeus Bermejo Cordubensis&#39; belonged to the funeral monument of Canon Desplá, who commissioned it. The donor&#39;s portrait-like realistic representation is on the right. The background is emphasized more strongly than in contemporary Spanish painting.
