## Commentary

The scenes on the east wall are the following: St Benedict Departs the Monastery of Vicovaro \(top left, scene 7 of the cycle\), St Benedict Accepts Maurus and Placidus as Disciples \(top right, scene 8\), St Benedict&#39;s Prayer Enables the Monks to Lift the Stone on Which the Devil Is Sitting \(bottom left, scene 12\), St Benedict Recognizes the Sword Bearer Riggo Disguised as King Totila \(bottom right, scene 14\).
