# Portrait of Lady Hariot Vernon [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [RAMSAY, Allan]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 116 x 112 cm ## Commentary Lady Hariot Vernon \(died 1786\) was the third daughter of Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford \(1672-1739\). In 1743 she married Henry Vernon \(1718-1765\). This portrait dates from Ramsay's early days in London where, following his return from Italy in 1738.
