Annunciation to Zacharias c. 1315 Fresco, 280 x 450 cm Peruzzi Chapel, Santa Croce, Florence Zachariah shrinks back before the angel, who prophesies the birth of a son. The musicians on one side, and the women on the other, do not seem to notice any of this. The depiction of the women in particular reveals a change in the way figures are fashioned compared to the Arena Chapel. Although comparable in volume, these women move in a more lithesome fashion. Giotto has also further developed the depiction of space.
