## Commentary

This painting represents Marie-Adelaide \(1732-1800\), the third daughter of Louis XV. It is signed and dated lower left: Nattier pinxit 1745. The pendant of the painting \(Marie Adelaide of France as Flora\) is also in the Uffizi. Nattier specialized in portraying his sitters in mythological or allegorical fancy dress, and achieved great success with these portraits.
