# Bust of a Young Woman [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ROBBIA, Giovanni della]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Glazed terracotta, diameter 95 cm ## Commentary In the 15th and 16th centuries, the della Robbia family produced sculpture to adorn churches and the façades of Florentine palazzi, and for private devotion. The present tondo, containing the bust of a young woman, encircled by a copious fruiting and flowering wreath, was executed for the Palazzo Davanzati in Florence.
