# Sara de Peyster at the Age of Two and a Half [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [UNKNOWN MASTER, Dutch]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 97 x 61 cm ## Commentary The portrait and its pendant \(in the same museum\) depict the first two children of nine who were born to Jacques de Peyster \(1596-1655\), a native of Ghent, who became a banker in Rouen and later in Amsterdam. The ages of the children, Sara and Jacques, were given on the canvas as thirty months and seventeen months, respectively.
