# The Flood of 1824 in the Square at the Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ALEKSEYEV, Fyodor Yakovlevich]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 70 x 108 cm ## Commentary ALEKSEYEV, Fyodor Yakovlevich \(b. ca. 1753, St. Petersburg, d. 1824, St. Petersburg\) The Flood of 1824 in the Square at the Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre 1824 Oil on canvas, 70 x 108 cm State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg The St. Petersburg Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre \(The Big Stone Theatre of St. Petersburg\) was built in 1783, then modified, restored and rebuilt several times. In 1886 it was torn down to make place for the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
