## Commentary

This parchment codex from the 2nd or 3rd quarter of the 14th century from southern Netherlands has 49 folios with numerous coloured drawings. The drawing shown here is on folio 5. It depicts blacksmiths at work. Remarkable are their leather aprons, the furnace and bellows and the large pairs of tongs.
