## Commentary

Originally in the Church of Monteortone in Padua, these two paintings must have formed part of a larger whole. While translating Mantegna&#39;s great legacy into decorative linearism, Montagnana also proved himself no stranger to the aesthetic innovations of Giovanni Bellini.
