The anonymous painter is referred to as Monogrammist B of 1576, but he is perhaps identical with Joost de Beer \(active 1550, d. before 1595 in Utrecht\). He transformed Dürer's famous <A onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/d/durer/2/13/2/0421.html'\)" HREF="/html/d/durer/2/13/2/0421.html">Adam and Eve</A> engraving into a panel painting. He placed the Fall of Man scene into the centre of a paradise landscape.
