# Egerton Genesis [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MINIATURIST, Flemish]() - Date: 1351-1400 - Technique: Manuscript \(MS Egerton 1894\), 245 x 185 mm ## Commentary The Egerton Genesis is a pictorial narrative of the biblical Genesis, supplemented by legendary material. It was commissioned in the fourteenth century for the entertainment of a middle-class patron and his friends. It contains 20 parchment folios with full-page drawings on each folio, usually in four compartments, in ink. The illustrations were made by a Flemish master working in England, identified by some scholars as the Utrecht painter Michiel van der Borch.
