# Self-Portrait at the Easel [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ANGUISSOLA, Sofonisba]() - Date: 1551-1600 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 66 x 57 cm ## Commentary Self-Portrait at the Easel c. 1556 Oil on canvas, 66 x 57 cm Muzeum-Zamek, Lancut The artist depicts herself in a simple brownish-red habit, covered by a smooth black waistcoat. Under the dress, she wears a white blouse, closed around the neck, with a high collar and cuffs decorated with folded hems. She is painting a Madonna and Child, shown in a particularly affectionate pose.
