## Commentary

This lithograph by Émile Sagot depicting the west façade of the abbey church of Cluny \(Cluny III\), seen through a double-arched gateway in the precinct wall, appeared in Alexandre du Sommerard&#39;s &#34;Les Arts du Moyen Age&#34; in 1838.
