# View of Westminster Hall and Bridge, London [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [PUGIN, Augustus Charles]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Etching, aquatint and hand-colouring, 216 x 265 mm ## Commentary The picture shows the view of the Thames from Lambeth, with Westminster Hall on the opposite shore at the left, and Westminster Bridge at the right; in the foreground to the left men raise the sails of a boat, to their right a number of people hurry towards the river. The print is an illustration to the 'Microcosm of London' published in 1810 by Ackermann. Pugin's architectural career did not develop greatly, and he began to form connections with publishers and topographical writers, first Rudolph Ackermann and then John Britton and E. W. Brayley \(1773-1854\).
