## Commentary

Youth in a Pink Coat c. 1525 Oil on panel, 85 x 61 cm Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Mansi, Lucca The unidentified sitter of this portrait wears a pink coat over two layers of clothing and a cap on his head. It seems to be an official dress for a page. The portrait - with the attention given to the pink mantle - is the first in which Pontormo made the clothes as much a point of interest as the sitter.
