## Commentary

Tessin&#39;s main work, the reconstruction of the Stockholm Royal Palace shows that he was acquainted with Bernini&#39;s last design for the Louvre and Palazzo Chigi-Odescalchi, however, he transformed these archetypes into a more sober style.The block-shaped four-wing complex with three main storeys resting ion a strong base is complemented by curved stable blocks. The picture shows a detail of the courtyard façade.
