## Commentary

An indication of a somewhat freer approach to the forms prescribed by El Escorial can be seen in this harmonious church endowed by Margaret of Austria and Philip III and built by Fray Alberto de la Madre de Dios \(active 1600-1630\), a pupil of Herrera. The photo shows the façade of the church.
