## Commentary

The Hall of the Firmament is a rectangular space distinguished by a soaring, barrel-vaulted ceiling, where a unified composition unfolds to spectacular effect. This detail of the ceiling shows the terrifying Hydra, twisted in its mortal coils, surmounted by the gilded Krater embellished with figures in relief, as well as Aquarius and Pisces.
