## Commentary

The obverse of the shows the bust of Louis XIV, wearing armour, a lace cravat, the ribbon of an order and a sash. On the reverse the sun shines on a terrestial globe. The inscription Nec Pluribus Impar means &#39;not unequal to many&#39; which was his motto.
