# The Ordinall of Alchymy by Thomas Norton [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MINIATURIST, English]() - Date: 1451-1500 - Technique: Manuscript \(MS Add. 10302\) ## Commentary The Ordinall of Alchymy by Thomas Norton c. 1477 Manuscript \(MS Add. 10302\) British Library, London This manuscript, the Ordinal of Alchemy, was written, in verse, by Thomas Norton, of Bristol \(1433-1513\). It contains the first five chapters of the work with a frontispiece and four other picture. It is one of the late-fifteenth-century instances of a vernacular text planned with full miniatures.
