## Commentary

Bust of Jacob van Reygersberg 1671 Marble, height 63 cm J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles Jacob van Reygersberg \(1625-1675\) was the regent of Zeeland and an important patron of the sculptor Verhulst. There is a terracotta version in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, which was probably made before the marble, &#39;from life&#39;, to serve as the basis for the working model in plaster.
