# Bestiary [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MINIATURIST, English]() - Date: 1201-1250 - Technique: Manuscript \(MS Harley 4751\) ## Commentary This English parchment codex from the 2nd quarter of the 13th century contains 106 miniatures in colours of animals. Folio 40 contains a miniature of a caladrius perching at the bedside of a king, illustrating the text that states that the bird has the power to foretell whether an ill patient will live or die.
