## Commentary

This altarpiece is Ricci&#39;s last public commission. It celebrates the miracle-working virtues of the Calabrian saint, suggesting that the miracle performed on the child will be repeated on the invalid prostrating himself in the foreground, suffering like any other believer praying for grace.
