## Commentary

A very unusual representation of the sacramental episode that embarrasses and perturbs the apostles. Christ appears to be irritated by their failure to understand. The only relaxed figure is the nameless, curly-locked donor, who is already preparing the towel to dry Peter&#39;s feet.
