# Summertime [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ROELOFS, Willem]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Oil on panel, 27 x 49 cm ## Commentary For Roelofs and other artists of the Hague School, with their knowledge of Dutch 17th-century art and the Barbizon School, plain air painting became fundamental. Taking Daubigny's floating studio as their model, Roelofs and Weissenbruch regularly went out in boats.
