## Commentary

Designing the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, Klenze opted for an Italian Renaissance style for the elongated building, with pronounced corner wings, involving large round arched windows that allows light into the side rooms on the upper floorThe large rooms in the centre of the upper floor are top-lit, allowing the best possible lighting for the paintings there. The photo shows the southern façade.
