## Commentary

MONVOISIN, Raymond Auguste Quinsac \(b. 1790, Quinsac, d. 1870, Boulogne-sur-Seine\) Ali Pasha 1846 Oil on canvas, 91 x 75 cm Private collection Ali Pasha of Tepelena or of Yannina \(1740-1822\), was a Muslim Albanian ruler who served as an Ottoman pasha of the western part of Rumelia, the Ottoman Empire&#39;s European territory. The present portrait shows him with his favourite mistress Kira Vassiliki.
