# Study for the Last Supper [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [LEONARDO da Vinci]() - Date: 1451-1500 - Technique: Pen and ink on paper, 266 x 214 mm ## Commentary The sketched design of a Last Supper shows that Leonardo at first planned to simply show the moment at which the presence of a traitor is announced. He enlarged this scene somewhat to the right, depicting it in more detail. Next to Jesus, John is sitting leaning on the table.
