# View from the entrance [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MASOLINO da Panicale]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Fresco, width of the back wall 4,7 m ## Commentary The picture shows a view from the entrance to the Baptistery towards the altar. On the arch wall, left, an altar in a niche is depicted, while on the right the Beheading of John the Baptist and, with an angel holding a scroll above, can be seen. In the vaulting St John the Evangelist is represented.
