# Study of garments [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GHIRLANDAIO, Domenico]() - Date: 1451-1500 - Technique: Brush drawing on paper, 290 x 130 mm ## Commentary Study of garments c. 1491 Brush drawing on paper, 290 x 130 mm Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence In this outstanding drawing, Ghirlandaio prepared Mary's cloak for the panel painting of the <A onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/g/ghirland/domenico/7panel/09visita.html'\)" HREF="/html/g/ghirland/domenico/7panel/09visita.html">Visitation</A> which is now in the Louvre, Paris. The forward leaning stance of the Virgin is clearly visible under her cloak. The rear contour of the figure is drawn well rounded in a large curve.
