## Commentary

The influence of German artists on Ingres should be mentioned. While in Italy he became familiar with the paintings of German painters \(Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld, Friedrich Overbeck, Peter Cornelius and others\). Many of Ingres&#39; paintings reflect these encounters such as the Paolo and Francesca.
