# Teaching of the Ancients [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [JACOPO del CASENTINO]() - Date: 1301-1350 - Technique: Manuscript \(Pal. 600\) ## Commentary Teaching of the Ancients 1342 Manuscript \(Pal. 600\) Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Florence This manuscript contains a treatise "Ammaestramenti degli antichi" \(Teachings of the ancients\) by Bartolomeo da San Concordio, a Dominican friar \(1262-1347\). It is an Italian translation of his original text in Latin. The treatise contains approximately 2.000 religious and civil precepts. There are two codices in the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Florence \(Ms. II.II. 319 and Pal. 600\) both containing the vernacular version of the work, and both illuminated in the workshop of Jacopo del Casentino.
