## Commentary

Portrait of Anna Chernyshova 1760s Oil on canvas, 95 x 74 cm The Hermitage, St. Petersburg Stefano Torelli, court painter to Catherine II in St. Petersburg, executed a number of ceiling paintings in various palaces, as well as portraits and other easel paintings. Anna Alexandrovna Chernyshova \(1740-1794\) was the wife of Ivan Grigoryevich Chernyshov \(1726-1797\).
