# The Horse Race [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GÉRICAULT, Théodore]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Oil on paper attached to canvas, 44 x 59 cm ## Commentary Alongside his naturalistic subject matter, Géricault was particularly drawn to two other genres: the horse and the nude. The subject of horses is related to the trip to Italy which he made between 1816 and 1817.
