# Portrait of Dirk Tybis [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [HOLBEIN, Hans the Younger]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Oil on oak, 48 x 35 cm ## Commentary In 1533, Dirk Tybis, then 33 and originally from Duisburg, was resident in London: we are told this on a piece of paper on the left on the table, which according to the inscription is in his own hand. The merchant's trademark is inscribed between his first and family names.
