## Commentary

The artist had his initial training under Martino Spanzotti \(1456-1526/28\), whose style he initially retained. Later he had Flemish and German influences which can be traced back to graphic models. Probably he was influenced by the works of Gaudenzio Ferrari, in the twenties he was more open to influences from the Veneto.
