# Tympanum and door lintel on the north side of the narthex [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MEDIEVAL SCULPTOR, French]() - Date: 1101-1150 - Technique: Stone ## Commentary Tympanum and door lintel on the north side of the narthex c. 1150 Stone Saint-Fortunat, Charlieu Built in the second half of the eleventh century, Saint-Fortunat was torn down after the French Revolution. All that remain are the western section with the tympanum, and the narthex in front of it. The picture shows the tympanum and the door lintel of the north side of the narthex and, to the right next to it, the tympanum and archivolts over the window on the north side of the narthex. The type of scene in the tympanum of the west portal was frequently repeated and underwent considerable stylistic developments.
